Someone at the Republican National Committee thinks Chip is a Republican, which is almost enough to make me leave him, except that he hasn’t ever voted Republican except for one little slip-up in 1980 when even loyal Democrats were tearing their hair out.
A few weeks ago they sent him a so-called “Congressional District Census,” which is not only filled with biased questions, but contains more outright lies than I’ve ever seen on a supposedly serious questionnaire. For example:
“Do you believe the Obama administration is right in dramatically scaling back our nation’s military?” [Lie: they’re not doing this]
“Do you think the Democrat [sic] efforts to restore the “Fairness Doctrine” that will destroy conservative talk radio is a violation of free speech?” [Lie: they’re not in favor of restoring it]
“Would you like Congress to pass additional tax cuts to further stimulate our nation’s economy?” [biased assumption]
“Do you worry that the Obama Administration is committed to greatly expanding the government’s role in your life?” [biased question]
And, naturally, they end with blatant fear-mongering:
“Do you trust the Democrats to take all steps necessary to keep our nation secure in this age where terrorists could strike our country at any moment?”
On this day when India remembers the Mumbai attacks that dominated our happy little American Thanksgivings last year, I give thanks that I don’t have to see indoctrinating questionnaires like this too often.
