Bloomsday

I like long books and books set all on one day and sexy books but I just couldn’t do it, even though it was his masterpiece, and even though it was pretty romantic that James Joyce picked June 16, the day he and his to-be wife first “walked out” together, as the day for all 1,000 pages to take place.

It seems sort of obvious, now that I think about it, that it’s meant to be read aloud. So I finally have a plan for what I’ll do if one of the things I fear the most, going blind, ever happens to me. I’ll listen to Ulysses, all 22 CDs of it.
