I read somewhere that the opposite of boredom is flow* – that feeling you get when you’re lost in something; when your brain and your body and your consciousness and whatever other extraneous usually interfering parts you might have are all working together; and then you sort of wake up from it and realize how great it all was. And usually the outcome is a great success, but while it’s happening you’re barely conscious of what the outcome might be – you’re just flowing in the process, while hours fly by.
I’m going to stop worrying about the purpose of life (although I have to admit I abandoned that quest when Reverend Warren came out with his book), and go with the flow instead.
*One of the best things about flow is the name of the psychologist who first described it, which I will link to but not attempt to spell!
